Robust and hardy, the Bactrian camel is perfectly adapted to the extreme conditions of the steppes and deserts of Central Asia. Easily recognizable by its two humps, it differs from the dromedary, which has only one.
Its humps do not contain water but fat reserves, which allow it to survive several days without food. Surprisingly, its thick fleece protects it from both the freezing cold of winter and the summer heat. Herbivorous, it feeds on dry vegetation and can drink up to 100 liters of water in one go when it finds it. Domesticated for millennia, it was long indispensable for transporting caravans on the Silk Road.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the Bactrian camel: thick fur, long sturdy legs, and characteristic humps. An ideal model to complete a collection of wild animals, invent stories from the East, or raise children's awareness of the incredible adaptations of the animal world.
