Endearing and curious, the young elephant discovers its environment under the protective eye of the herd. At birth, it already weighs a hundred kilograms but remains entirely dependent on its mother and the other females of the group to feed and learn the rules of social life.
Very playful, it uses its trunk to explore, spray itself with water, or practice manipulating objects. Surprisingly, elephant calves suckle until they are 2 to 3 years old, but continue to feed on breast milk even after they have started eating grass. Protected at the heart of the herd, it grows up surrounded by its peers, gradually learning to become a full member of the clan.
This Papo figurine lovingly and realistically reproduces the young elephant: large expressive ears, a movable trunk, and a lively posture. An ideal model to complete a collection of wild animals, invent touching stories, or teach children about the fascinating social life of elephants.
