Originally from the coasts of South Africa and Namibia, the African penguin is a seabird as endearing as it is recognizable. It is sometimes called the "pink-eyed penguin" because of the pink patches above its eyes, which help it regulate its body temperature.
Fun fact: unlike the emperor penguin, which lives in Antarctica, the African penguin nests in temperate and sunny regions. Excellent swimmers, these penguins can dive more than 100 meters to catch fish and squid.
