Hanging upside down from branches, the sloth is an iconic mammal of the tropical forests of Central and South America. With its long arms, curved claws, and slow gait, it is perfectly adapted to arboreal life.
Surprisingly, the sloth spends most of its life suspended in trees, where it sleeps up to 15 hours a day. Its very slow metabolism explains its measured movements, but it is also an excellent swimmer when it needs to cross a river. An herbivore, it feeds mainly on leaves and buds, which it digests over several days. Its fur often harbors microscopic algae, giving it a greenish tint and enhancing its camouflage.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the sloth: sculpted fur, long claws, and characteristic posture. An ideal model to complete a wild animal collection, invent exotic stories, or raise children's awareness of the incredible adaptations of tropical wildlife.
