Easily recognizable by its back covered with long quills, the porcupine is a nocturnal rodent that lives in the forests, savannas, and rocky regions of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Despite its impressive appearance, it is generally peaceful and prefers to flee rather than confront its predators.
Its quills, actually very hard and hollow hairs, are its main defense weapon. Surprisingly, when it feels threatened, the porcupine raises its coat of quills, makes rattling noises, and can even throw some quills to deter its attackers. As an herbivore, it feeds on roots, fruits, and bark, thus contributing to the balance of its ecosystem.
This Papo figurine realistically reproduces the porcupine: detailed quills, stout silhouette, and watchful posture. An ideal model to enrich a collection of wild animals, invent amazing stories, or raise children's awareness of the incredible defense strategies of the animal world.
